Many religions describe "God" as a kind of superior or super "I." This is not god’s nature. In reality, god is you, god is me, god is us. When we come to recognize god’s true nature we can each reflect the brilliance and love of god’s presence on earth completely, even in the smallest aspect of our being. When we come to know god in this way we would no more pick up a weapon to kill another being than kill ourselves. War would be unthinkable.
When we focus primarily on appearances and not on the substance of who we are inside, we do not feel fulfilled. We cannot be nourished by eating a picture of the most beautiful apple, while we are nourished by eating the blemished and wormy fruit we usually find at hand.
It is not necessary for everything to happen for a reason in order for us to be safe and secure at all times. Our safety and security has its source in our being god, not in the circumstance of our daily lives.
